So, finally, in ICANN meeting it is approved that, the internet addresses now may contain the Alphabets from other languages too including Hindi, Arabic, Chinese, etc.
More than 50% of the users on Internet use non-english Language for their websites. The problem internet address users were facing was that, if their site is non-english, and they too don’t know English, how to read and write, yet then, they had to enter an English word to enter into their site. Because, before now, Web addresses only contained 26 characters from English Alphabets and 9 digits.

It would be effective from mid 2010 for registrations. And it would be effective to Top level domains (.com, .net etc).
Peter Dengate Thrush, chairman of ICANN, said: “The coming introduction of non-Latin characters represents the biggest technical change to the internet since it was created four decades ago.”
