Hypersonic X-51A “Waverider” aerocraft produced by the Boeing Company makes a successful test flight on May 26, 2010. The vehicle flew at fives times the speed of sound for about three minutes. Powered by a scramjet engine, X-51A is designed to ride on its own shockwave, furnishing the U.S. Air Force with a long-sought Prompt Global Strike capability.
