The annual Comic-Con cosplay contest is one of the convention’s most popular events, with thousands showing up to cheer on elaborately dressed participants. Costumes range from the ever popular anime to comics to film — a veritable cross section of nerd culture. A master of ceremonies presides over the geektastic beauty pageant as cosplayers sashay across the stage in their fictional best. 2010′s Masquerade even featured impressive prototype creations to mimic Avatar‘s AMP suits and Iron Man‘s War Machine.
