Christmas or Thanksgiving holidays can leave you with a lot of left over turkey to use up. Here are the Top 5 ways of using it all up instead of having to throw it away.
1. Turkey Sandwich
Always the first option, a sandwich filled with leftover turkey, cranberry sauce and what other trimmings you have left that you can shove in there! Is there anything easier to throw together after a hard day of celebrating, you don’t even need to find a clean plate! No imagination required for this standard snack, but there is more to leftovers than sandwiches isn’t there?
2. Pan Fried Turkey With Noodles
Spice things up a bit with this eastern inspired dish. Add colour to the dish with seasonal shredded vegetables and golden noodles. This dish is a perfect choice for a light supper, quick to make and deliciously tasty. Plus, with the added benefit of adding as many spices you like, you could even forget that its main ingredient is left over turkey!
3. Turkey a la King
Another old fashioned, sorry I mean ‘Traditional’ favourite. Very easy to make, all you need are peppers, mushrooms a can of condensed soup and some butter. Turkey a la King is something of a comfort food, rich and creamy it can be served with rice, on toast, in a baked potato – or any other way you can think of. A hearty warming favourite for a chilly night.
4. Turkey Pot Pie
Another perfectly simply supper dish. Turkey and vegetables tucked under a pastry crust. What you add to the pie with the turkey is entirely up to you, left over vegetables or fresh ones, creamy, cheesy sauce or gravy, there is no real standard pot pie recipe, you could have a puff pasty crust, cheese crust or wholemeal crust – whatever is lurking in the back of your store cupboard.
5. Turkey Curry
Traditionally reserved for the leftover leftovers, a turkey curry is guaranteed to see of the last of the everlasting leftover turkey. Spiced up, this colourful creamy dish, served with rice is both tasty and warming.
